Projection mapping Thaniel’s Art

Thanial Ion Lee of Louisville, Kentucky was coming to Santa Barbara to put on a show. We agreed to do the lighting.

The work he planned on exhibiting was done in a strict black and white style that demanded scrutiny.  We felt normal lighting would reduce the edginess of his work and decided that the best approach was to projection map the individual pieces with white light. In this way, only the images would be lit up and nothing else.

It gave the exhibit a sustained intensity and caused people to lean in to examine the intricacies of his images. It was a memorable show.
