Draughtsmen Aleworks, Goleta, CA

Elly and Davey were getting married. Elly is an event planner and wanted something cool and different. Most of all, she wanted COLOR, so that is what we did.
The reception was held in the back of Draughtsmen Aleworks in Goleta, a long, thin parcel of land edged in on one side by a rather awkward hedge dotted with random potted succulents. Opposite was the aleworks itself a grey, industrial affair that probably began its life as an entrepreneur’s factory. In other words, it was a challenge.
We highlighted the building by first covering it with blended black and white water patterns. Then we cut three rectangular holes into that and mapped in videos of colorful, pop art jellyfish.
It looked so festive! Across the yard, we saturated the hedge and plants in color changing spotlights that made it look afl like psychedelic coral. To give the entire composition a hat and a pair of shoes, we lit up the trees at both ends of the yard with magenta trunks and a blast of overly green leaves. The final flourish was bringing the DJ and dance floor to life with more projected water patterns coupled with color changing flood lights. The guests appeared to enjoy it all.
